A corner of the city that exudes
genuine Florentine culture, a
microcosm overflowing with
humanity, entirely to be
discovered, where one can
“do the shopping” the old fashioned
way. Here the relationship with the
customer, more personal than
professional, isn’t just
important... it’s fundamental.

This is the beauty of the
market, of our market:
we’re sincere and genuine,
just like the products that we
sell, and not just in terms of
the counter which measures
our nearness to – and not
our distance from – people.
With an equal balance of tradition
and innovation, the Mercato di
Sant’Ambrogio maintains its
connection to the past, while
also evolving, renewing, and
improving itself, always seeking
new qualities to offer.

Colourful Tuscan banter, a
recommendation on the product of the day,
and a long-standing relationship built
on trust, which we nurture at each
new enounter. That’s us, in love
with our job and our market.

The Masters of Meat and the Fishmongers
"Ask and it will be given to you." (Matthew, 7.7-11) If you’re looking for meat, you’ll find meat. One thing is for sure, here meat is definitely the mistress of the house: from classic Florentine steaks to the highly sought after Fassona Piemontese beef. Our friendly (and handsome) butchers are able to fulfil your every whim.
Artisans or Gourmets
Here we have a saying: If you don’t leave the market with a full belly, then you never went in. Our gourmets, or as we like to call them, our artisans, are ready to surprise you every day with specialities prepared on the spot. And if you’re looking for Eastern spices, fresh pasta, or traditional products like the legumes of our “Master Beans-man”, then you can be sure that you won’t be going home empty handed!
An Explosion of Colours
And of course, what would a market be without the explosion of colours of the fruit and vegetable stalls? Our greengrocers are always ready to welcome you with a smile and, between one joke and the next, serve you the freshest and most delicious fruit that you’ve ever tasted.
Smell the Smells
Cheeses, freshly baked bread, and finger-licking sweets: one thing that’s definitely not lacking in our market is selection! Abandon yourself to the fragrance of steaming schiacciata or artisan pecorino cheese. You decide. And if you happen to like truffles, well friends, the choice is truly a tough one.

A beautiful covered market, where you’ll find exceptional traditional products, but where you can also do the weekly shopping. It’s full of permanent stalls that sell foods of every kind, from meat to cheese to bread. There are even some small dining areas where you can grab something to eat.
Mariangela
The Mercato di S.Ambrogio is essential to commerce and to city life. It has everything. A fruit and vegetable area, various meats, fish, deli products, tripe, restaurants, and coffee bars. An assortment of businesses that not only helps the neighbourhood live decently, but is also a nice place to meet up and spend time with friends.
Gianni
Over the years this has become the best market in all of Florence. Located in a strategic spot and equipped with a very convenient two-story parking garage, it has become the market not only for residents of the neighbourhood, but also for all those who hate supermarkets and who, like in the old days, know where to go for extremely fresh products at a generally affordable price. I strongly recommend it. I’ve been coming here for more than thirty years and even now that I live rather far away, I never miss a chance to return!
Anton
Genuine and unique. I’m always happy to stop here for a quick lunch of authentic and simple home cooking, served in a cheerful environment.
