A highly Florentine family company (we’re from Moccoli!) that has grown over the years and, over these decades dedicated entirely to meat, been passed down from father to son and from brother to brother. Today Massimo manages the well-stocked stall, always ready with a smile and a joke, assisted by three co-workers that complete the picture.

“We have customers who’ve been coming to us since the 1970s. That’s how this market is. The customers are very loyal and we always try to offer them a wide range of high quality meats. We’re the only butcher shop in Florence that sells kosher meat, or rather meat that adheres to the standards observed by the Jewish population according to the Torah.”

“In my opinion,” says Massimo, “the Mercato di Sant’Ambrogio may not be the biggest market in Florence, but it’s definitely the most important. Working here has become a part of me and a part of my life. I can’t imagine it any other way!”
