Where there was Urbano, a historical character of the Sant'Ambrogio market, since February 2020 there is Stefano, cordiality and familiarity behind the counter of his "Enoteca Sant'Ambrogio". Our market is also the universe of professional second lives, just as happened to Stefano: a life as an advertising agent before reinventing himself as a "purchaser" of the best food and wine products on the market and taking over the already well-established business. Without revolutionizing it, maintaining the same suppliers as a guarantee of quality and modernizing the space that has become him and Andrea, a young and competent helper.
Just a sprinkling of stylistic renewal and the future desire to transform the shop into a real wine shop: Stefano has already started a collaboration with the winemakers of Castellina in Chianti and already today, behind and on the counter, the selection of wines is varied and targeted: whites, reds, bubbles with a high concentration of wines produced in the Chianti Classico area.
To be accompanied with niche foods that the owner has carefully researched, personally tested and finally brought onto the market: excellent cold cuts, from sweet Parma ham to San Daniele to DOP ham from Carpegna, directly from the Marches; crumbled, culatello, the salami considered the best in Italy or the Varzi from Lombardy.
And yet the rich selection of cheeses, coming from the areas of greatest Tuscan production, from Piedmont but also island, Sardinian and Sicilian excellences. House tip: pecorino Moliterno, made with goat cheese in Sardinia, normal but also with truffles. The end of the world for product lovers. Moving on to the sea you will find herring, cod, tuna, salted anchovies.
